because I am so blessed...

I have had some fun this past week tweeking my blog and jazzing it up and realized I still had alot to add to it (friends, sites, and passions). I have been trying to find the right links to add for Autism and felt these would best represent it.

Autism Speaks was the first place that I found and realized that my child was on the spectrum. Granted many had told me before but It didn't penetrate until I read it there.

I found this site helpful to detect early signs of autism. The child they described resembled Sawyer almost perfectly.

As I look for sites to add I notice so many negative sites against prayer and faith and curing Autism. Well my son has been cured and it was all due to faith and prayer.

First off I think the use of the word "cured" is subject to opinion. It is up to the parent to decide at which point they feel their child is cured. I am the only one that spends every day in and out with my son, and I know him thoroughly. This being said, having been apart of what Sawyer was two years ago and what he is now I would have to say he is cured of Autism. He is bright, social, comical, responsive and a typical three and a half year old boy. He is still a little quirky but he is self sufficient. My ultimate responsibility as a parent is to never give up on raising my child to be a blessing to this world and not a burden. he will be just that.

We were proactive with his therapy and always faithful that he would break through. We started out with a two year old that wouldn't talk, wouldn't point, and would just cry. He couldn't even tell us if he wanted water to drink. He knew he did but he would just cry. After going through the Merry-Go-Round of what do you wants, we would eventually figure what he needed. his speech was severely delayed and caused a global delay and began to effect other areas.

It was a tough struggle but with the support of our friends, family, and therapists we are standing stronger than ever. So I am here now to tell you that prayer and faith work. It is very difficult for anyone to offer parents in our situation anything more than prayer and well wishes, because it is such a huge unknown. Every prayer, every word that came out of our loved ones mouths soaked our hearts with hope and encouragement. After all this was our battle to face, we just needed cheerleaders there to rally for us, and they did.

So although he still attends speech thereapy once a week, he does attend a regular pre-school, the same one that Jackson went to which was our hearts desire. And although I will tell him often just how much af an amazing miraacle he is, he will never truly know how much, words just cannot describe it.

Thank you to everyone for an amazing year, and most of all a blessed one. I wish all of you the same and more in 2008!

Here is a pic of Saywer now, three and a half and clever enough to push a chair up to to counter, climb up to the top shelf and sit down and eat cookies. Yup, he's cured.

Peppermint-Palooza and more!

So today we made 8 pounds of peppermint bark! It only took less than an hour plus me and James had a blast. We are giving it to his clients tomorrow and to our friends. Sadly I am sure this will not be our last batch for the season. So if you ever wondered what 8 lbs. of chocolate looks like here ya go! And Some more wonderful news... Our new TV sideboard arrived yesterday! I am so in love with this style! It was made with reclaimed doors from Indonesia and has alot of hand crafted carving. We looked long and hard and finally found this one @ Chartreuse .
It is a one of a kind piece, and a hard to find one at that!

This will probably be our christmas present to eachother but it is well worth it.

Blog Social...

In an attempt to be more bloggy, I ventured on and did a six degrees sort of thing on to other peoples blog buddies, I started @ Ali D then went to Britanny Mellen and than ended up here at a cute little blog called Jacys place. If you get a chance read this story. I really needed a little chuckle and this was the perfect dose of laughter. I can totally relate to this. Especially the part where she talks and reffers to herself as "tard" , totally me!

Enjoy ladies and take a trip onto some of your friends, friends (does that make sense?) any who they are there for a reason so be entertained!

Yummy, inexpensive gift for all!

This morning I realized that I hadn't posted my recipe for peppermint cookie crunch park yet, and well I knew Ali would be checking back for it. I cannot be held responsible for keeping chocolate from a pregnant lady, so here it is!

Peppermint Cookie Crunch Bark

1 lb. white chocolate melts
1/2 cup of peppermint crunch
1/2 cup of crushed oreos

Directions:

put white chocolate melts in a Pyrex dish and melt for 30 seconds and then mix. Continue to melt in 15 seconds increments until chocolate is smooth.

add crushed oreos and peppermint crunch and mix thoroughly.

lay out on waxed paper and spread out evenly to a 1/4 in thick layer.

let dry and harden for 45 minutes.

break up into pieces and eat till you get sick!

It also tastes really yummy melted in some hot chocolate! (seriously, this is awesome!)

Enjoy!
This is great for gifts. I split one batch of these up between 2-4 friends and it is always a hit!
The supplies you can get @ any cake store or even make yourself. Just make sure that they white chocolate is meltable (I think they sell this @ the grocery store or even @ joann's and Micheal's if you don't have a cake store handy). I even made my own oreo crunch by putting oreos in a zip lock bag and hitting it with a rubber mallet. Just make sure all of the air is out of the bag or else it will explode. You can do the same with the peppermint crunch, just use candy canes. And if they stick together use a little powdered sugar to coat the lightly.
have fun creating!

ADVENT-UROUS scrapping~

What a wonderful way to count down to my favorite holiday, Christmas! Found this @ Target on Wednesday and decided to make it my own. I have been dying to break open my Prima prize ( it has been taunting and teasing me since it has not made it into my scrap area yet!) so today I took the plunge and after a few hours this is what I came up with.

I also sanded the edges to give it an old distress look. On the black tie embossed white flower (#24), I inked it with red stazon and then put a layer of modge podge and then a layer of powder pigment to make it sparkle !

Supplies:
MM advent kit from target

Prima belle Fleur, gold embossed

Prima Crown Jewels in marie antoinette (that is the big green blossom on top, I LOVE it!)

Prima Essentials 3 in Rue 88Prima Black tie collection

Prima Say it in crystals small swirls

and Prima Say it in Crystals centers

Well I hope this gets you in the spirit!

Hug a loved one and drink some hot cocoa!

BTW, tomorrow I am going to post a YUMMY and oh so easy recipe that is family friendly, peppermint cookie crunch bark. This was a hit @ my workshop for church.

See you tomorrow!

fresh new look~

I thought I would spice things up a bit with a new look. I love black with bold colors (chances are that is where my LO's start). It just POPS!

----> (*I needed to add this!*) The saying came from a billboard that I saw of Helen Keller reading brail and the title said "could only see possibilites". It just stuck to me. It inspired me to see more possibilites, use the wonderful God given abilities that I have been given and not take them for granted. Adventure past the ordinary and and take a chance at the extroirdinary. You never know what is behind the mundane until you push it down. (Ingunn, did I get that from you?) Wait, I think I saw it on a cooking or craft show, yup that was it I saw it on B original. Ok you know it's late when you start arguing with your self and ramble on typing!

Anyways...Be inspired...be creative...see your possibilites and make them reality!

Jolly and Bright...

So I hope that you all have had a great first week of the Christmas season. What better time of year, that we get to celebrate ALL MONTH LONG! I hope you all have been stress free and really taken the time to enjoy this truly special season. One of these days I am going to start on my advent calender, I figure I may just do a 12 days count down.

It's here!!!!!

I recieved my prize package from prima yesterday and BOY was it wonderful! there was way more than $100 worth of product in it! Some of this stuff I had never seen before in my Lss's So I was very pleased!

the blue say it in crystla flourishes I have been drooling over since I saw Brittany lakkonen use them on a project. I seriously have had them in my hand three times and put them down for some other SIC product ( did I mention I love these!) and the center kissed bling I already had but had ran out and I was going to go and get more. Just another reminder that God is looking out for me, even my scrap needs!

this was truly a blessing, I can't wait for my scrap area to be done!
