Tattered Angels and Cosmo Relay... SON-Rise

This week is my turn for the Blog relay. This month we have brought you some fun creative ideas for uses of Cosmo Cricket products with Tattered Angels products. First off Tattered Angels CHA booth was right next to Cosmo's booth this last winter. And since I was at the demo table, I got to stare straight into Cosmo's booth and fall in love with all of their fun goodies. Some of you may remember back in January I posted about their new Snorkel line, well it is just so adorable, and I absolutely fell in love with it! So for this relay I chose to use Snorkel for my project.

SON Rise

Although most of the pic is covered up, this pic is of my second son on the beach. Seeing him splashing in the waves was such a blessing. We normally don't get down the the beach all that often, but on this particular visit, our son who is normally adverse to uncontrolled environments decided to give the ocean a try. It just melted my heart to see yet one more prayer answered in our little guy. So this page titled SON rise, captures just that. My SON rising above adverse situations, I know it sounds a bit predictable and cheesy (most of my topics are about such things) but these are my day to day joys. Seeing him grow into a health cabable young man is all I could ever pray for. So with each page I record his one step closer.
Ok now for the details: I use the Cosmo paper to create the waves on the bottom of the page, and as well to create the sun. This sun was inspired by a commercial last year. I believe it was a car commercial, and as the car drove through one of the LA tunnels (something that reminded me of my childhood) the tunnel turned into this gorgeous, whimsical, multi layered sun. It reminds me of the turn of the century victorian art that you would see layered in silent movies or puppet shows. I have always been a fan of layers so it is no wonder how this image stayed with me all year long. The background was created using some Frosty Memories Glimmer Glass as a screen to create the white clouds. I misted a light mist of Turquoise Blue over the top. To add to the whimsy, I added the large flourish of Regal Glimmer Chips in the same color. I also added some bolt lace and some Cosmo trim that I sprayed with Sea Glass to match the project. You can also see in the rays of the Sun that I used the Vinage Ice Glimmer Screen as a stamp with Dreamsicle Glimmer Mist. Some additional colors of Glimmer Mist that I used were, Old Lace, and Sand to create the sea bed. For the title I used the Regal Framed Font Alphabet with Meadow Green Glimmer Mist and Peach Delight Glimmer Mist.
Thanks for peeking, I am currently in New York, so I will try and post some pictures of my Tattered Travels when I get back (I have a few trips to post still!) Enjoy your Memorial Day and snuggle up with those you love. Especially on a day like today, we need to treasure eachother and relationships.

I HEART SAN DIEGO...

Class pictures from Scrappin' Attack in Santee, Ca.

I am blessed to say that I truly love what I do. I get to roam around and teach and come home and be mom, I know things may not always stay this way, but I can say I am blessed for having this time in my life where I can feed into my children and still get out and create with others who share my passion. This past weekend I had the Pleasure of teaching at Scrappin' Attack in Santee, Ca. I had met Stacie and Eva at CHA winter and when they asked me to come down and teach, I just had too. Another drive down the beautiful coast and to get to see the girls again, was just what I needed. We had tons of fun in the first class creating one of a kind Prima Paintable creations. In the second class, we ventured in to the art of Glimmer Misting and created a Heritage Album. Here are a few pictures of some of the class winners. I always have a little something to give away, and this time I broke it up into a few different prizes to share the wealth. There were prizes from my favorite companies such as Tattered Angels, Prima and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L.

I always enjoy my time in San Diego, and can never turn down an offer to drive down and teach. Next month I will be in San Diego again featuring some brand new classes, concepts and techniques. Next months classes will be at Everafter Scrapabooks in Vista, Ca. I was at Everafter for my Holiday Gift Classes last December and just fell in love with the store and the staff. Since I had been there before, I thought it would be fun to take my projects to the next level. I decided to create a complete "technique" based class (Art Journal). I also will be teaching one of my most popular Prima classes, Creative Paintables.

Pure, Genuine, Beauty- Prima Creative Paintable Class

This class is a totally fun experience with beautiful Prima products and Glimmer Mist. I will have ALL of the colors of Glimmer Mist available plus my stash of flowers and bling to choose from. This is a complete "choose your own adventure" project. I will share some techniques in watercoloring as well as intrigrating acrylic paints as well. You will start with a blank canvas and paint your way into a masterpiece.

This class is for the sole purpose for those who want to take their scrapbooking to the next level and need a little nudge. I remember looking at pages that had paint, pastes, flocking and foil on them and thinking "WOW, how did they do that?" Well if you are thinking the same thing than this is the class for you. This Art Journal Class is directed to act as a refference guide for your scrapbook experience. In this class you will learn tons of techniques that can easily be translated into your pages. If you choose to you can also transform this journal into an album. The goal is to leave you with the tools and techniques that will take your crafting to the next level and give youteh confidence to try something new.

I had a ton of fun in San Diego and can't wait to get back!

CKC Buffalo Here I come!!!

So this week has been a bit more structured than usual for our family. Me and James are leaving for a week, yes a week to go to help out Kyle and Wendy in Buffalo, New York. So because of that I have to try and plan a full week of activities for the kids while we are gone. We have never done this before, so this will definately be a new experience. I know our kids will be fine with the Grandparents, but being that our whole marriage we have only ever known having kids or taking care of kids, it is a bit different to leave our sweet little world in California.

We will be In Buffalo working the booth at CKC and teaching a few classes. Here are the classes Tattered Angels will be offering at CKC.

Fashionable Independence

So today is a lazy monday which is not good, because a lazy monday cannot follow a lazy weekend. I should get myself up and working on some stuff, getting the house clean and finish up some paper work and such, but I just can't seem to get the lead out. I feel like I am on a perpetual slow motion reel, and everyone around me is on fast foward... I know... I need to get it together. Well today I though I would share a little project that Sedona put together this weekend. She was upset that the step stool was black. Now mind you this was a $2.50 step stool that I picked up at Target so I really didn't see the reason why black was such a bad color. But to a little girl who is in love with Pink, it just wouldn't do. So of course comes daddy to the rescue with his can of spray paint (left over from my crutches, if I didn't mention that J would not be to happy!) So with this small gesture, daddy gave his little girl a whole new world of independence, but fashionably!

Here is the step stool spray painted and then layered with a fine mist of Cherry Blossom Glimmer Mist, when appplied in a fine mist, the glimmer gives the spray paint a beautiful pearlized opal glimmer. So what was once matte, now has a little glimmer to it!

Here are the colors that Sedona picked out for her very own step stool, she loves pink and purple so it just made sense that this is what she would choose.

And of course, her putting it to good use. Now the key is to remind her of the step stool each time she says she can't do something that she really can, but just wants my help for. She has actually really enjoyed her new found independence, and especially loves that it comes with a little glimmery bling too!

Just in time for your mothers day wishes, Bad Girls brings a totally amazing kit, "Post Cards from Paris". This kit is FULL of amazing product from 7 Gypsies, Prima, Hambly and Bad Girls private collection! I really enjoyed this months kit, it was full of some wonderful vintage ephemera, brass and of course beautiful Prima flowers and 7 Gypsies PAPER! I especially loved the flocked paper. So here is what I came up with:

I am still recovering from this weekend, it ws Sooooo much fun getting to spend it with Wendy and Kyle, the four of us (James took a train down to meet us the last few days) just could not stop laughing, my stomach still hurts! Any how, I have been meaning to post some pics of trip to Colorado and this past weekend, I will try and do that this week.
